One of my favorite things to do every Christmas season is to go for a drive to see the Christmas balls. What are the Christmas balls? They are balls made out of wire (I think) and strands of Christmas lights, then hung in trees. My house has 5 balls. But there are a couple streets where the entire road has balls in their trees and it is amazing. Every time I turn down the road, I smile and say "ahhh". It's pretty awesome. I also think it's a fundraiser for canned goods also. So that is good.
So my handy assistant and I tried to capture this magic for you. It's not as good as seeing it live but it's still pretty neat and you can listen to this wonderful tune from the Charlie Brown Christmas CD.
And here are the balls at my house (plus our reindeer) that B put up for us. I was pretty much no help.
So do you have a street of balls in your town?
What's your favorite holiday decoration?
Did I say "balls" too much?
Yes, they are made of chicken wire. I took my coworkers to see it last year. They were confused and all like "what is the big deal" when I tried to explain it to them, but were super impressed seeing it in person. Some are at least 100 feet up there. Ours are not, because JM thinks that if I get on a ladder I will immediatly fall off. I am pretty sure I wouldnt, but JM likes to play it safe.
Gav and I drove by there last night! MoCo had free ice skating for us (blog and pics coming soon!!!) and on our way downtown we cruised by the 'magic balls' (as i call them). It's soooo gorgeous! I told gav I wished I could live on that street and look out my window and see them every night :)
these for sure are my new favorite holiday decor. and they are balls, so no other way to describe them :) my friend is going to make some to use at her wedding, which will be so beyond fabulous!
That is beautiful. So holiday-y. Love it. Can't say that I've seen those around here though...too bad.
I alos have to point out how wildly impressed I am that you used the word balls so many times, and not once in a dirty way. There should be some kind of prize for that!

Definitely not ones that light up!

Sadly the hanging balls haven't made their way to California, but those are awesome! How do people hang them?
My obsession: All things snowmen
I have never seen these before! And I must say, your balls are quite beautiful! haha Merry Christmas!
I love going in that neighborhood. White ones would be pretty at a wedding. Does B want a wedding project for my wedding? :)
I've never seen them before!!!
