Today I would like to discuss a controversial subject.....Pizza Toppings. Now I know that some people will strongly disagree with this but I'm just going to say it. I love Pineapple on my pizza. I know many people hate this...Beezus5, everyone in my family, most other people I know. But I love it. I also like pineapple and pepperoni together on one pizza. I also like pineapple, prosciutto, and blue cheese on a pizza. My husband is ok with it. Usually he doesn't care about the pineapple as long as there is some sort of meat on it. I think he's growing to like it more and more.
I will eat a pineapple-less pizza though. I also like just pepperoni. Then there is sausage, pepper, and onions or the Elizabeth's Pizza Special aka pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, mushroom, and cheese. I have enjoyed a nice BBQ chicken pizza in my time as well and I also like a nice Pizza Margherita. One time I had a pizza with potatoes on it. It was pretty good. Essentially the only thing I don't like on pizza is my least favorite food ever...the olive, and then probably also anchovies. One time I met this girl in college who would only eat mushroom pizza. She refused to eat a plain cheese pizza or anything with more than mushrooms. She was weird.
So here are my pizzas I made the other night.
Pizza....
Fresh (whole wheat) Pizza dough from the pizza place in the grocery store
Pizza Sauce (I got canned)
Pepperoni
Canned Pineapple
Mozzarella Cheese
I split the dough in to three pieces to make 3 smaller pizzas. I put a little flour on it so it's easier to work with and doesn't stick to everything. I spread out the dough and baked it a few minutes until it was brown before adding the toppings. Usually I do a layer of cheese, then a layer of toppings then another layer of cheese. Sometimes I don't. Then I baked them until the cheese melted. Pretty good stuff.

Who likes pineapple on their pizza?
What's your favorite topping or combo?
What's the weirdest pizza you've ever had?
Do you ever make your own pizza at home?

I am not the world's biggest fan of pineapple on my pizza but I will eat it. Also, I tend to make my own pizza all the time at home because (like you) I will go and buy some dough at the grocery store and split it up to make individual pizzas and freeze the rest, plus I feel like the quality of ingredients I use is better than if I order papa john's or something and it's way less oily. So will sometimes make the following pizzas, sometimes in super mini version so I can have 2 different kinds on the same day. BBQ chicken pizza, a greek type of pizza where i put lots of spinach, garlic and olive oil, chicken, some feta and no red sauce, chicken and corn pizza (i know that sounds weird but that is how the brits eat pizza and don't judge until you have tried it- its good), i have also done prosciutto or salami and red sauce and cheese... all good options. And yesterday when I went home there was a recipe in my new southern living for a pesto pizza with all kinds of veggies that looks awesome.
Strong comment Shanz! I like spinach on pizza also. Sometimes I make pizzas from those Flat Out things with a bunch of veggies on them. My mom taught me that. I will have to look in to this chicken and corn pizza.
My mom makes a delicious pizza on pizza crust but she makes it pretty thin on a cookie sheet. Then you can add as many veggies as you want and some Canadian bacon and it's delish! It's pretty light too if you use the 2% milk cheese. Yummy!
I don't make pizza at home, but darn it I should. I can make it in a healthier way than the pizza shop dudes can.
I tried pineapple on pizza one time. Hated it. It wasn't so much the mixture of the flavors as I just can't stand warm fruit. (I don't like pie either. I know. I'm like an alien.)
When we order pizza out, I like to get it with chicken and jalapenos. :)
I don't like pineapple on my pizza and I'm so with you on the olives. I hate those things. Otherwise, I'm pretty good with whatever is on my pizza. Pizza is my all time favorite thing to eat and I like it best with extra cheese, onions and a really crispy crust.
pineapple on pizza = the greatest thing everrr! I love to get papa john's with ham (or canadian bacon) and double pineapple. omg yum! so not so healthy, but what's my fav fo sho.
Recently (boo) I've gotten papa john's thin crust veggie w/ no cheese (soo lame and yes I can eat the entire thing myself and no i don't feel bad).
I sometimes make pizza at home. It's sooo not the same. Yours looks crazy good. I have seen the pizza dough at in that cooler thing but i am like wow scary! your pics make it look soo good. ok I'm sold. I need to try it!
Hawiian pizza is my husbands comfort food. I have to make it for him every couple of months when he has had a bad day. I use whole wheat crust and low fat cheese to help with the calorie count. I pick everything but the cheese off of my slices and stick it on his plate. He loves it.
You are wrong about everyone in your family hating pineapple on pizza. I like it as well as any kind of olives. In fact, pineapple, olives and jalapenos would make a delightful pizza.
I love pineapple on my pizza! But my favorite topping has to be banana peppers!
I jut say "pass" to pineapple on pizza. No thx! And I heart pepperoni and chicken. BBQ pizza is yummy. And um, pretty much anything EXCEPT pineapple is a yummy topping. Can't recall any weird pizza experiences tho ... Perhaps I shall make (for the first time - as I haven't ever made a pizza) an interesting pizza combo ... I'll let ya know.
I love the Elizabeth's Special too (minus mushrooms). You are making me hungry!
Somehow you and I are exact opposites when it comes to pizza, as my favorite toppings are of course olives, or even better, anchovies. Anchovies totally get a bad rap from jokes and such, but really its freakin awesome. Most people assume it is nasty just cause its fish and have never tried it. I was born to a mother that loves stuff like this and never prejudiced me against them. I used to spread anchovy paste on crackers as my afternoon snack in elementary school. Fortunately I have found a dude that likes anchovies too and i love sharing pizza with him. Also FYI, Villa Italiana has excellent spinach pizza (fresh! not canned) and is also next to Gnam Gnam gelatto which is also pretty good.
I'm anti-pineapple on all counts. I don't like the flavor and the second it's in or on something the entire dish tastes like pineapple. bleh.
I do like a good homemade pizza though!
Oh I love pizza but for me, once I start eating it, I can't stop.
My youngest sister loved pineapple on pizza, and she also went nuts for barbecue chicken pizza. I'm not a huge fan of pineapple. Pepperoni, mushroom, and sauerkraut is my favorite combination. We do make our own at home quite a bit; we like to make French bread pizza boats, using French bread as the crust. Hubs and I still dream about the fabulous breakfast pizza we ate on our honeymoon...it was so incredibly good! I don't know what the crust was, but it was topped with eggs, cheese, peppers, and onions. Sooooooooo good!
