Valentine's Week-A Very Special Valentine's Day for Hobie...

Guess who got the most expensive Valentine's Day present in my family?
I will give you a hint.  His favorite past time is chasing squirrels in the back yard.

No, not B.
It's Hobie.

For Valentine's Day, Hobie got his teeth cleaned.  The vet office pretty much guilt tripped us in to doing this for Hobie by saying things like "well I mean he won't die, but it will just be harder for him to eat when he doesn't have any teeth left cause they all rot out".  You know stuff like that.  They have been suggesting it for like a year so we finally bit the bullet and signed him up.  It just happened to be scheduled for Valentine's Day.

He was totally out of it when he came home.  He ran into the living room where he normally engages in an intense game of rope bone but when we got in the room he was just lying passed out on the carpet.  Sweet little buddy bear.  Anywho, his teeth look great (well at least in the before and after pics they printed out for us).

In other Hobie news, my favorite Valentine's Day moment involved Hobie.  We gave Hobie a new bone on Saturday when we were celebrating Valentine's Day.  He quickly become obsessed with it.  It stayed in his mouth for about 2 hours straight.

Then he finally decided to take it outside.  I'm pretty sure he was trying to hide it from us because he thought we'd steal it.  He kept glancing back at the house while he was burying it under a bush.  When he came back inside, he looked like this...

"Why are you guys staring at me like that?  Do I have something on my face?"

OK, so that's it for Valentine's week.

Should I turn this in to a pet mommy blog since my Hobie stories are always so fascinating?
Have you ever had your dog's teeth cleaned?
Is it important or were we conned?
Did you get your pet a Valentine?

We may need an intervention for Hobie and his bone. He used to wake up and want to eat and go outside to the bathroom, now the first thing he does in the morning is go to where he last hid his bone, and then secretly find a new hiding space for it. Last night he decided he wanted to try to hide it inside the house, and spent 15 minutes dragging dirty clothes over it to keep it hidden. However, he saw that I saw where he had hid it, so he decided to hide it outside again. Hobie be crazy.

But he has clean teeth.

HOBIE! I think he at least deserves his own weekly feature. Maybe you could call it "At Home with Hobie" or something.

I'm glad he liked his present.

I have never had to clean a dog's teeth, but we have to clean G's teeth. It's a huge pain.

That picture is hilarious!! Dogs are such funny creatures. I don't know if it's fear of abandonment so they have to hide the bone in case they need it later when you're not around to give them something or they honestly think you're going to take it. I totally get this when they're 2 dogs though, I hid my stuff from my brother all the time!

I laughed so hard at that picture. Seriously, sitting in my cube, laughing. Priceless. And yes, yes please, turn this into a pet Mommy blog.

I too burst out laughing (at work!) when I scrolled down to that last Hobie pic. Oh Hobie!

And teeth cleaning is important for dogs. We always did it like half as many times as the vet recommended tho ... whole con fear.

We didn't get Tiger a V-Day gift, but Tiger did get Monster (aka Justin) a gift. It's a book entitled "Why Dogs Eat Poop." I think she just wants Monster to better understand her. He seemed to like the gift.

That is the true story of my current favorite commercial. I think its for Traveler's insurance. With the "Trouble" song. Poor Hobie needs insurance for his prized possessions. Then hell be able to sleep at night.

Ok...the last Hobie pic is priceless. Dogs crack me up. I really wish we could hear what they were thinking.

And the teeth cleaning thing is really important. Is Hobie a poodle or a bichon? Poodles have notoriously bad teeth. My mom's dog actually lost his teeth and had horrible breath at a really young age and feeding him was always a huge pain.
