Curly J was back from her honeymoon just in time to celebrate her 30th birthday this weekend. Of course I had to attempt to make her present since I made that goal of making all birthday presents this year. Plus I wrote about that goal on my blog and she reads my blog.
I kind of took the easy way out and made some earrings. It's just too hot for any more t-shirt scarves at this time and I was drawing blanks on everything else. I also gave her a bunch of photos from her wedding shower, bachelorette party and wedding and an album. I had big plans to make an album but they fell through. So, earrings it is.
Plus I made her a birthday cake. It's my go-to chocolate chip poundcake which I have finally mastered over the years. And by mastered, I mean it actually came all the way out of the pan instead of getting stuck in there and ripping apart. Yay me!
The evening started with dinner at her favorite Mexican restaurant followed by game night at her house. B and I were victorious at a game of LCR and scored $7 in prize money. Have you ever played LCR (left, center, right)? I was pretty skeptical at first but it ended up being pretty fun.
So in conclusion, Mexican food and cake are good, LCR is fun, and I'm still doing ok on my handmade presents.

I'm seriously considering this for next year. I love handmade gifts, and that cake looks yummy!
So what's the trick for not getting it stuck in the pan. Bunt (said like Boont, I hope you get that reference) cakes of any size are a pain!!
I LOVE your chocolate chip pound cake. Matt and I finished it off last night. It's so not dry (you know I don't like the M word). I put it in the microwave for 8 seconds (7 is too short, 9 is too long) and it enjoyed it with a glass of milk. Delish!
My earrings are hot stuff too. Thanks! I thought the pictures didn't make it in the album because you wanted me to pick my faves? Regardless you did a great job. Thanks!
PS - LCR does seem too simple to be fun but add a few drinks, good friends, money, and competition and it changes everything.
Ahh earrings. You haven't been making those recently. I know because when you make earrings the beads that fall on the floor are larger and easier to avoid when walking in the living room. However, your wine charm business is booming, and those beads are smaller, which makes them harder to see and very painful to step on. Maybe next craft can be home made pillows?
I don't know how you can say you took the easy way out making earrings..they look great! i would happily pay good money for them!
I LOVE the idea of making everyones birthday presents but I don't think my mum could handle another pasta necklace! ;)
